Pop-Up Studio

Thanks to the amazing generosity of the parents at my school, we now have the materials we need for our Pop-Up Studio!
Our materials include:
~ a large pop-up green/blue expandable screen - with stand
~ a dual/split plug to have two lapel mics plug into one iPhone - with loooong extension cords - for distance interviews/discussions between 2 people.
~ an iPhone holder which connects to our large tripod - to old our recording devices secure
~ sound proofing squares to decrease the sound in our space near the window
~ a multi-directional USB mic for table top interviews/discussions.

Now... how to best use them?
Questions in my head:
~ How do I help my kiddos leverage the full power of these tools?
~ How do I best engage my learners with their talents and goals?
~ How do we keep our learning target as our focus?
~ How do we demonstrate the wonderful benefits of this generous donation to our kind benefactors?
And... as always with me...
~ How do I manage time to make room for the creative process?
Of course, my answers to these organizing questions need to include several important features - learning intentions, student goals & progress, student choice & voice, and community/belongingness.

With all of that in mind... I also have this... how do I start with our Pop-Up Studio TOMORROW... because there are kids who know about the "studio" and they would be so let down if they didn't get to interact with it right away!
So... after our "welcome" Breakout tomorrow morning, we need to get some studio time in!

Here is my thinking, so far.
First - the learning intention.
There are two intentions - in general - for our use of the studio: creative production and student reflection.
For tomorrow, I'm going to focus on student reflection.
In my mind's eye, I see four stations in the room, with students split into 4 teams, attending to one of the stations - taking turns to record their self reflection.
Four "stations":
Station One: Interviews
Location: mid-room
Equipment: iPhone, GorillaPod, double lapel mics
Task: 2 students at a time will interview one another about the day.
Station Two: Solo Studio
Location: nook by the window
Equipment: iPhone, tripod, camera clamp, sound proofing squares, single lapel mic
Task: Students will deliver a reflection message directly to camera
Station Three: Props Box
Location: mini-hallway near door
Equipment: collection of props & 'costumes' (hats, glasses, etc.), iPhone, 1 lapel mic.
Task: Students take turns recording each other as they tell about their day using props/costumes.
Station Four: iStage
Location: teacher desk area
Equipment: iPhone, iStage, paper, markers
Task: Students create a 1-page graphic (text and/or images) to illustrate something about their learning today. Once created, students use the iStage to film their work and deliver an audio message to match.
OK- so that's my plan for tomorrow. Let's see how it goes. Will tweak it from there!
Now to prep my Breakout! Wish me luck!
